Win Win Win
On of our friends Debbie Spring, who is a custom rod builder is trying to win a contest through Air Tahiti to get free tickets back to this magical land. She is a finalist for the "Best Experience on Air Tahiti Nui" contest and needs some help with votes to win. Thats where you come in... Some of you may be your asking yourself, why vote for someone who you don't know? Well Luis and I can vouch for the fact that Deb is not only a great person deserving of this win, but, she is an awesome custom rod builder and in exchange for a win, she wants to build a custom rod for one randomly selected winner! But, theres more, IF you vote, you are automatically selected for the contest as well, potentially winning something for yourself like a trip to Tahiti, an umbrella and bag, or even discounted tickets.
So how do you do this? Well check it, read below:
1. Log-in to Facebook
2. Navigate to http://www.facebook.com/ airtahitinui.usa
3. Like the Air Tahiti Nui Facebook page
4. Click on “The Tiares”
5. Authorize the Tiares App by clicking “Go to App” button (it only asks for the very basic info, to ensure it's a person voting)
6. Click on “Click Here to Vote” on the page that appears
7. Click on “VIEW FINALISTS AND VOTE” on the page that appears
8. Click on Categories or Entries and Vote
Here's Debs experience:
I was lucky enough to be able to go to Tahiti and Moorea back in 2004 and love the islands and the people, but wanted to share my lovely experience on my flight there. I was flying Air Tahiti Nui and loved the courtesy of the flight staff. They had already fed us and given us coffee, and after a little while I asked if I could have some more coffee, they asked me if it wasn't too strong (they make excellent coffee) I made the comment that "the stronger the better" well they went and made some extra-strong (extra delicious) coffee just for me!! talk about going above and beyond!! Loved everything about the flight! The awesome seats and a screen (with games) right in front of you!! If I could choose to fly it I'd fly Air Tahiti Nui every time!!
Once you vote, as a double confirmation and to be placed in the running for the custom rod, send us an email titled "I Voted" to tightlinedtalesofaflyfisherman@gmail.com and tell us what emoticon Deb put at the end of her experience description seen above on the voting page.
Now, some people have noted that they are having problems voting. If you are having problems, here is a link to the PDF Air Tahiti has provided to troubleshoot those problems. Also, voting doesn't work on mobile FB app, nor using the iPad/iPhone app either, but you can get around that using the Safari and accessing the website directly www.facebook.com (not using the app) on your mobile device. Air Tahiti has also said that people with the Windows 8 or IE10 are also unable to access the site, so if you use another browser, you should be ok. Last thing, it seems that if you are underage, you are not allowed to vote either (Deb says she "hasn't received confirmation on this last one from Air Tahiti, but my younger family members haven't been able to vote, with no explanation given").
Contest ends on Friday so vote now and let everyone else know to vote, send them to this post! A link will also be posted on the top RIGHT of the blog for them to goto as well.
"The rod is a (hot off the assembly line) custom built HH Xi rod blank 9'0", 5wt, 7-piece medium action rod. Its perfect for the backpacker (or traveler). Perfect for small as well as larger type streams. Great trout rod. Glossy green finish. Only 1.8 ounces!"
If she doesn't win, you all still have to potential to and of course each and every one of you will receive a HUGE "thank you"! I just voted and didn't have a problem, so get to it and vote!
Remember...The custom rod goes up as a prize ONLY if Deb wins!

Our October "Swag" Contest Winner
Aight guys and gals, so some of you may remember that we held a contest last month that benefitted one of you (the winner) and us (by giving us an idea of what we should bring to the table as far as TLTFF swag in 2013). Here's how it went...
Alright guys, so we ran our 3rd Anniversary Giveaway at the end of last week celebrating 3 years of TLTFF. After running a random number generator, our winner has been selected and Nicole Esson has won a TLTFF sticker swag pack.
Nicole, email us at tightlinedtalesofaflyfisherman@gmail.com.
Now, as for our next contest. On Tuesday we hit 200 'Likes' on Facebook. HUGE (at least for us). So as promised, we are going to be running another giveaway. We have some gnar gear stored up here at HQ and would love for you guys to have it. So heres how it works:
Each of you who commented on the post to enter was assigned a number. We put that number into a random number picker thing we found on Google and it has spoken... Colson Mitchum, you my friend, have won! Colson, send us an email to tightlinedtalesofaflyfisherman@gmail.com to find out what you've won!
Thank you everyone who participated, your input is HUGE! 2013 is right around the corner meaning some TLTFF swag should go into the planning phase very soon. Thanks again y'all and keep being great! Keep your eyes and ears out for our next contest coming up to help us all celebrate the holiday season!

- Tell people about us (this doesn't help your chance of winning but really makes us happy).
- There will be one winner, selected on Halloween (October 31st).
This contest wil give us a great idea as to what our next step will be and what products we will bring to a "TLTFF Store".

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I am first of all in debt to all of you as you have made my week by getting us to 200 Likes on Facebook. Second, Keith of Nature Boy Designs is the man. Seriously, the man. Keith contacted me yesterday to inform me he had seen that we hit 200 likes and wanted in on the prize. For our giveaway (click on the picture on the top right to what its all about), he and NBD are going to send out a NBD 550 Lanyard to the winner. Wow, so gnarly, huge amount of stoke right now for you guys (for the chance to win such an awesome product) and for us to have such a great friend in Keith.
But wait, there's more, here's what Keith also had to say..."If you hit 300 likes by then (the end of the month) I will include a 225 lanyard as well!" WHAT?! Yea, that just happened.
So what does that mean? That means, you tell people about TLTFF on Facebook, make sure they 'Like' the page, get us to 300 an boom, lanyards. So, check out the giveaway, do your part to enter, and win!!!

Congrats Matt!
A good friend of TLTFF, Matt Baden of The Hobie Life just found out this awesome news...
I won the Kayak Bass Fishing Mid-Atlantic June Challenge with a total length of two fish of 40.50 inches. Turtle, another Maryland Kayak Fisherman came in a close second with 39 inches. I currently have 100pts in the Regional standings. First place in the overall standings after Septemeber would get me entered into the KBF Invitational, the KBF Open, and all 2013 KBF online challenges!!!
I'm gonna work hard these next couple months to consistently produce quality fish so I can earn the chance to participate in these other tournaments and represent for CBKA,MKF, Hobie, Bust Em Baits, and my new partner Astral Bouyancy. Hopefully I am able to make it as it will be a great opportunity to fish against some of the best Kayak Bass Fishermen in the country!!
For the June Challenge I won a YUM bait prize package, which I super excited to get in the mail!!! Thanks to KBF and YUM!!!
This month is gonna be another close fought challenge and Turtle already has the early lead with the help from a monster over 22" he caught this past weekend. I haven't been able to hit the water yet in July but I will be fishing Thursday through Saturday this week to get some fish on the board and a possible shot a snakehead, to put icing on the cake. Marathon fishing!!!

Knocked up for Knockarounds
For those of you who don't know, my wife and I are expecting in April. We are super pumped and have really enjoyed the pregnancy part of parenthood so far. To make it even more fun, we're waiting till the little minion pops out to find out its gender. My wife and I had an idea the other night of how to announce the gender to all of our friends and family in the waiting room...Knockarounds. We figured, hey, they've been on our faces for the important events in our lives so far, why not?
So I emailed Ace, the owner of Knockaround, my idea. He was totally in. We have a pretty good email relationship if I might say so myself. The man is a legend and has made some super gnarly sunglasses since 2005. For those of you who don't know much about Knockarounds, read a book, these glasses are the shit. I have like 7 pairs of them.
We had all of the groomsmen wear them in our wedding and of course Ace hooked us up then. Knockaround came out with some sunglasses made out of recycled materials not to long ago and the colors were perfect for our idea. Check em...
This 3-pack goes for $42.00 right now, on sale. They are $16 a piece if you want one color.
Oh yea, the idea. So, its simple. I wear the color that corresponds to the gender of the baby. Like I said, Ace loved it and boom...
You guys have to give the man some business, tell him I sent you. He's got some legit stuff going down at Knockaround, always making people want the newest designs. You can even customize your own! I mean, damn, even Snoop Dogg wears them!
I'm trying to see if they plan on releasing some polarized lens glasses soon, if so, my bank account will be hurting bad. Check out knockaround.com and be sure to order some sunglasses. You can't beat $14 for some gnar gnar pow pow sunglasses. Look good, feel good, fish good...

As if They Weren't Cool Enough...
Knockaround has been around for a few years now. With their slogan (printed on their sunglasses) being "Ace on Base", you just know right there they know their shit. We had Knockarounds on for my wedding last year, they really pulled our outfits together. To raise themselves above #winning status, they just came out with a new design for one of their older product lines...The Rainbow Trout Belt. To quote the housewife from Napoleon Dynamite, "I want that." Check 'em out and follow them on Twitter @Knockaround. Make sure you fisherman tweet them to come out with some polarized lenses...has to happen sooner or later. Oh yea...Snoop Dogg wears them...BOOM
