Warm Water Fly Tying Contest

Sportsmen’s Compass along with the help of Pat Cohen and Smith Optics would like to present our Warm Water Fly Tying Contest!

We will be awarding TWO pairs of Smith Guide’s Choice glasses to TWO winners. Tie a fly that’s designed to catch anything that swims in a warm water system, including Bass, Panfish, Carp, Pike, Muskie and more. There will be two categories:

Best Functional Fly – This award will go to the best functional fly, one that we think is creative and shows you’re thinking outside the box while still tying a completely fishable fly. We are looking for you to be innovative. Focus on how the fly will fish; how it swims and moves through the water, not just how pretty it will look in the vise.

Best Artistic Fly – This is a fly that is not necessarily fishable, although it can be. This is the category for realistic and art flies. Be as creative as you want, there are no boundaries here.

For both patterns we will be looking at originality, innovativeness, and materials used. (Bonus points for using Pat’s materials!)

Winners will be chosen by SC team members as well as Pat Cohen. The contest will end March 3rd and the winner will be chosen and announced the following day.
