TLTFF Road Trip to the Northeast
I made quick last minute decision to head north and knock some new species off the bucket list the other night. I've seen and heard the Albie bite this year has been phenomenal, so I decided to make the most out of two days of vacation by making the trek north. My alarm went off at 3am this morning and I was on the road by 4 with a cup of coffee and some snacks.
I'll be fishing the jetties of Rhode Island all day Tuesday (today) and most of tomorrow (Wednesday). Stay tuned with me via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as I make a run, take a chance, and hope to hear some drag sing.

'Tide of Nantucket' - Full Movie
As a lot of you know, Nantucket is a very special place...both in general and to me. Its a place I've gone to almost every summer since I was still in my mothers womb and currently have family that hold residence there. From the natural beauty to the phenomenal fishing, its a place tat should be on every anglers bucket list. I've been pretty stoked about this film's release and as of Thursday, its here.
Enjoy.

68th Annual Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby
I've always been amazed with the Derby, never having the opportunity to fish it. Next year I will on our trip up to Nantucket mid-September for the first time if I can't sneak away this year to participate and visit some friends up north. The prizes are ridiculous ranging from some new gear all the way up to a new truck and boat...crazy.
For more info on the background of the Derby, click here. You can also browse the Derby site by clicking here. Check out the Derby's FB page and Twitter if you get the chance for live updates. Click on the photo below to read the souvenir booklet.

What Do YOU Know About the Derby?
As September 15th quickly approaches, fly anglers from all over the world are tying up and gearing up for the World-Renoun Martha's Vineyard Fishing Derby. Fished by both Pete McDonald and David DiBenedetto while "researching" their books and known by anyone who's anyone in fly fishing as the mecca event of the sport. I'm looking at plane tickets now, already have my Mass. fishing license from the Nantucket trip. Check out the derby website here and do some research, T-13 days bitches...

Just Got My Copy of The Blitz
My wonderful wife surprised me with my very own personalized copy of The Blitz autographed by Pete McDonald for our "paper" anniversary. What awesome beach reading material! Hoping to get one of the fish they targeted up here today and potentially stop into Cross Rip Outfitters for a better fishing report than I've been getting. I've got the fishing itch so bad I'm tempted to call up some captains and find a boat...

Grand Slams...of the Fishing Sorts
So there are a lot of different "Grand Slams" out there when it comes to fishing. I figured, hey, why not educate a bit and drop some knowledge for all of you out there wondering what a fishing grand slam is and how its done. So here we go... A grand slam is usually when you catch 3 out of 4 fish in grand slam category in a 24 hour period. There are many types of grand slams depending on the region your in and some vary by having 5 fish in a category in which only 3 still need to be caught. The most popular is the Caribbean Grand Slam also known as the Southeastern Grand Slam (see below). For fly fisherman the Caribbean Grand Slam slightly varies, theres only 3 fish to be caught, according to some. A "Super Grand Slam is when you catch all 4 fish in the category (or 4 out of the 5 for some). They're all crazy no matter what you say and the first two below are absolutely on my bucketlist. Here's all the grand slams I could think of/find online...
Southeastern Grand Slam: Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish, Snook (3 bold fish are the fly fishing ones).
Northeastern Grand Slam: Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito.
Alaskan Grand Slam: Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Coho (Silver) Salmon, Arctic Grayling.
Costa Rican (Billfish) Grand Slam: Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish.
Midwest Grand Slam: Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Walleye, Arctic Grayling.
Reef Grand Slam: Coral Trout, Smallmouth Nannygai, Largemouth Nannygai, Red Emporer.
Trout Grand Slam: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Golden (Palomino) Rainbow, Tiger Trout, Hybrid (Brook/Brown) Trout.
I'm sure there's plenty more out there but this is all I could remember/find. Check it out for yourself on a Google search or simply make up your own based on what you have in your region (I made the "Trout" one up on my own based on the Breeches and the Gunpowder). My wife and I are headed to the Keys now for our summer vacation so lookout Southeastern Grand Slam, I got my eyes on you...
P.s. Check out the new poll on the Right-Hand side and vote for what Grand Slam would mean most to you!
