Fly Products...BioLite's SolarPanel 5+ and SolarPanel 5

BioLite is also introducing the SolarPanel 5+ and SolarPanel 5, on top of their new PowerLight Mini, the brand’s first offering in the solar category. The high-efficiency monocrystalline panels deliver 5 watts of electricity and the SolarPanel 5+ features an onboard battery storage for use after the sun has gone down.

BioLite’s innovation comes with its design, which helps users get the most from the sun. The Optimized Sun System features an integrated sundial cuts out the guesswork with a 360-degree kickstand that stabilizes the panel on any angle. This simple, intuitive combination enables users to set up their slim, packable panels easily for maximum efficiency.

“We developed the SolarPanel 5 after seeing how many current panel designs don’t set you up for success,” said Cedar. “Propping a panel up on rocks just doesn’t cut it. When you’re not directly aligned to the sun, you can miss out on up to 30 percent of the watts your panel could be producing. The SolarPanel 5 series shows you exactly where to be, and gives you integrated features to keep it in the right spot.”

SolarPanel 5/5+ Features:
  • 5 watt, high-efficiency monocrystalline panels. Can power phones, tablets, and cameras, etc., as well as BioLite gear
  • Integrated sundial helps capture direct rays
  • 360 Kickstand that provides easy positioning on uneven terrain, or the ability to hang from a tree or backpack
  • Auto-reconnect feature keeps panel charging after cloudy skies pass
  • 5+ Model Only: On-board energy storing via a 2200mAh USB rechargeable battery (enough for a full smartphone charge)
  • Dimensions: 10.12” x 8.19” x 0.94” (fits easily in laptop sleeves)
  • Weight: 5 Model is 12 oz., 5+ Model is 13.2 oz.
  • MSRP: SolarPanel 5 ($59.95), SolarPanel 5+ ($79.95)

Fly Product...BioLite's PowerLight Mini

Leading the charge of BioLite's new releases is the ultra-slim PowerLight Mini, a credit card-sized rechargeable lantern and power bank that can follow its users wherever they go, from camping to bike commuting.

“We saw a huge gear overlap in the tools we use for portable light and backup power,” said BioLite CEO Jonathan Cedar. “We wanted to consolidate that into a single device in a really compact and versatile form.”

BioLite packs a lantern, headlamp, bike light and charger into one palm-sized product thanks to its unique edge-lighting technology. Featuring a proprietary texture, the light panel wraps tightly around the internal battery and LEDs and bounces light evenly without requiring a bulbous space.

The resulting 135-lumen light provides a compelling alternative to glare-prone headlamps and bulkier lanterns. It features four lighting modes: a white dimmable lantern, red night vision, strobe lighting, and a pointlight for maximum visibility.

Thanks to the versatile clip stand, it can be clipped flat to a shirt or hang from a tent for hands-free personal illumination with the soft, edge-lit white light. The red night mode is perfect for moving in the dark without disturbing a tent mate.  With the strobe mode and included bike mount, the PowerLight mini crosses over seamlessly to the weekday commute, keeping riders visible.

The PowerLight Mini also acts as a power source, with a rechargeable 1350 mAh battery that provides a boost to electronic gear.

PowerLight Mini Features:
  • Four lighting modes: white lantern, red night vision, strobe, and point light for maximum visibility
  • 135 lumens
  • Slim Li-Ion battery that provides up to 52 hours of light or a 50% power boost to most smartphones
  • Battery: 1350 mAh, USB rechargeable
  • Inputs/outputs: Micro USB in, USB out
  • Bike mount included
  • Weight: 2.82 oz.
  • Dimensions: 3.35" high x 2.10" wide x .59" wide
  • Colors: Red, Teal, Yellow, Grey
  • MSRP: $44.95
