I found Kimberly on IG a few months ago as a suggested page and my jaw hit the floor when I saw her art. Fresh flavor with huge drop of creativity made me instantly click through to her site and want some of her art for my home's walls. By now, most or all of you know what is going on down in FL. I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Morgan, you're a little late on posting this here." True, but its because I have been blasting social media with this the whole time and decided there may be a few readers that don't do social media or may miss the posts on the TLTFF FB page (thanks Facebook for throttling down exposure of my page since I don't pay you). This is the week that the national media have finally started reporting on the incredible algae blooms along both Florida coasts, although a call to action started to go out as early as February. (See ” “Blackwater” Discharges Threaten Florida’s Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie Inlet.”) The cause of this disaster is discharges of untreated fresh water from Lake Okeechobee into the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries. Traditionally, this water flowed southward, through the Everglades.
The movie is free, but a portion of all bar, food, and vendor proceeds will be donated to the French Broad Riverkeeper for monitoring, improvement, and over all well being of the French Broad River right here in our backyard.
The featured vendor for the first installment of movie night will be our good friend Danny Reed of Crooked Creek Holler apparel. He’ll have a table set up with his new spring line of gear and the best thing is you won’t have to pay shipping.
Festivities start at 6, the movie starts at dusk on the trailer. Cascade Lounge will be providing the hooch, and Ron’s Taco Shop will be slinging’ tortillas.

The premiere of “Fish or Die” on Sunday, May 1 (11 pm EDT) was a time period upgrade for Animal Planet. Here’s a snapshot of the results:
Fish or Die” grew over its “River Monsters” lead-in by +21% with target A25-54.
“Fish or Die” posted double-digit percentage gains over the network’s prior 4-week time period average.
“Fish or Die” was up +37% with A25-54 (231K) and +20% with Total Viewers (435K).
“Fish or Die” placed Animal Planet among the Top 20 Cable networks in the time period with hard to reach male demos, ranking as high as #13 with M18-34
Young Pippa—daughter of Simon Perkins, Senior Manager of Orvis Adventures and Hunting, and his wife, Els Van Woert—has already been featured on this blog. Born into a sporting family, she’s already spent plenty of time on the field, and she clearly loves it.
Here’s a beautiful video that features Els and Pippa stalking trout on a Montana spring creek. As you’ll see, Pippa has a wonderful close encounter with a wild brown.

Through filming and photographing fly fishing productions with The Uncommon Angler and environmentally concerned documentaries, I've racked up a great deal of experience in the field.
When approached by Flymen to create a post for their blog, I immediately knew I needed to share my photography experience with their readers.
After brainstorming an extensive list of the most crucial tips I could come up with and choosing 5 to elaborate on, I then asked Bryan Gregson, Director of Photography at Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures, to read over my list and choose 5 more tips for me to write about.
I wish to see every hard-working outdoor photographer succeed in capturing his or her vision, and this is the best advice I can offer for getting started.
I give you, the River Quiver. The best thing Vedavoo has put out since well, their last product. But I have to say, and I think anyone who saw it at Somerset this weekend would agree, it has to be one of the best products in their lineup.

A lot of bonefish are broken off in the first few seconds of the fight. One of the most common problems for new bonefish anglers is managing the whirlwind of fly line created by the fish’s first blistering run. If left to its own devices that line will find something to wrap around. Maybe your real seat or reel handle or even your head. Whatever it finds, these powerful fish will break off immediately when the line comes tight.
It’s a situation that’s easy to avoid, once you know how. Once you strip set on a fish, just separate your hands by at least three feet and let the line slip through your fingers, keeping pressure on the fish, until all of the line is all out. Then you can use the reel to really put some pressure on the fish.
