Salty Cape Weekly Fishing Report - August 25, 2017

Capt. Shaun Ruge shows off a bonito caught on an Epoxy Jig earlier this week. A push of very large stripers made its way through the Canal this week, with a mid 50-pound fish weighed in on Tuesday in addition to many others over 35 pounds. Meanwhile, live bait seems to be the key strategy for stripers on the bay side, with most consistent activity happening around the east end of the Canal. Bonito are still being found consistently at the Bonito Bar, Hooter and elsewhere on the sound side, with some reports of spanish mackerel as well.  Boom...Morgan

Salty Cape Fishing Reports - October 4th, 2016

Via Salty Cape:

Despite the ugly weather, some epic striper fishing has been reported all over the Cape this week. The Sandwich to Barnstable bass bite is more difficult to fish because the winds are directly onshore, but there have been a lot of bass migrating south chasing the pogies, so its a spot worth fishing. On the south side, the Elizabeths, Buzzards Bay and even all the way out to Nauset Inlet on the backside have reported big fish in numbers. If you can brave the winds this weekend, you could catch your biggest bass of the year! READ THIS WEEK'S REPORTS

Salty Cape Fishing Reports - August 27, 2016

The news on the north side is that the striped bass bite off Sandwich and Barnstable continues to produce large fish.  Meanwhile in Buzzards Bay and the Sound side, the conversation revolves primarily around the wait for albies, although a few folks reported excellent striper fishing down the Elizabeth Islands this week. Offshore, things have become less consistent, but the warm water has made mahi fishing on high flyers an almost guarantee. READ THIS WEEK'S REPORTS

The return of bonito is the big news this week on Cape Cod. The southern end Nantucket Sound is "loaded" with them. South of MV, the bluefin tuna bite  continues to be consistent with more yellowfin reported this week as well. As far as striper fishing goes, Monomoy has seen bigger fish move into the rips, and Cape Cod Bay has seen the big fish spread out, which is welcome news.  READ THIS WEEK'S REPORTS

TLTFF Road Trip to the Northeast

I made quick last minute decision to head north and knock some new species off the bucket list the other night. I've seen and heard the Albie bite this year has been phenomenal, so I decided to make the most out of two days of vacation by making the trek north. My alarm went off at 3am this morning and I was on the road by 4 with a cup of coffee and some snacks.

I'll be fishing the jetties of Rhode Island all day Tuesday (today) and most of tomorrow (Wednesday). Stay tuned with me via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as I make a run, take a chance, and hope to hear some drag sing.
