Daily Deal...Save $450 On Sage Circa Rods

I'm not usually a big fan of big box stores but this is a pretty ridiculous steal, worth posting. Roll on over to Cabela's and save $450 on a Circa 5wt now.

    • Advanced slow action
    • Konnetic Technology construction
    • Fuji ceramic stripper guides
    • Custom cork handle
    • 70% lighter all-graphite ferrule connections
A technologically advanced, slow-action rod that honors the slower, more deliberate casting style, yet is still every bit a Sage. Thanks to Konnetic Technology, a process of aligning and compacting more carbon fibers into a much smaller diameter, Sage was able to design a radically narrow taper throughout the length of the rod, resulting in a consistently slow, yet highly responsive action from butt to tip. Konnetic Technology also reduces the weight of the Circa’s all-graphite, low-profile ferrule connections by an astounding 70%, which translates directly to increased tip-to-hand sensitivity. Yet perhaps the best feature this technology provides is a highly responsive and robust blank with significantly enhanced torsional stability and minimal vibration for casts that track effortlessly and accurately – a true breakthrough in the sport. A custom snub-nose, half-Wells cork handle has been formed to match the exact taper of the rod for a snug fit that helps communicate casting feedback and improve accuracy. A black aluminum reel seat is perfectly accented by an exotic, tightly grained Vera wood insert. Fuji® ceramic stripper guides. Hard chrome snake guides and tip top. Four-piece rod includes a 1-5/8" Desert-Gold-colored tube and a black rod bag with iridescent Black Hills Gold silkscreen. Made in USA.

Fly Product...Sage ESN Rod Series

Via Pitchengine:

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. (June 15, 2016)–Legendary fly rod manufacturer Sage is pleased to introduce the new ESN, an all-around European-Style Nymphing rod ideal for small creeks to big rivers.
“Built with a KonneticHD backbone, the ESN allows anglers to experience unmatched blank recovery, increased sensitivity, reduced weigh-in-hand, and superior shock absorption,” says Peter Knox, R&D design engineer. “Designed with a variety of long and short line techniques and situations in mind, this refined European-Style Nymphing rod allows anglers to confidently work any stretch of river the world over.”

The black ice blank has garnet thread wraps with metallic charcoal trim wraps. Hard chrome single-foot snake guides and tip top decrease weight. The super plus snub nosed, half-wells cork handle is comfortable in hand, and the stealth black anodized aluminum reel seat is down-locking for perfect balance. Laser etched line weights are easy to read on the slide ban. All models come in a black rod bag and black powder-coated aluminum rod tube for a price of $895. Available August 2016.

Fly Product...New Sage 6200 Reel Series

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. (June 15, 2016)– Sage, the performance fly fishing products manufacturer, introduces the new 6200 reel family.

“This is our pinnacle big game and saltwater reel,” says Kurt VanWyck, vice president of product development. “We spent time in the lab and out in the field testing this reel in grueling conditions to ensure anglers who chase big fish all over the world have the toughest reel with the best drag package available.”
The 6200 series of reels are fully machined with cold-forged, tempered 6061-T6 aluminum. The rigid frame-to-spool connection offers great strength and the large, concave arbor creates high retrieve rates and larger line capacities. Each model features Sage’s sealed carbon system drag, with a one-revolution drag knob that has 40 detented drag settings for adjustable and repeatable drag resolution.
The series includes five models from 5/6 up to 11/12 in silver, stealth and cobalt finishes, hard anodized for surface protection and corrosion resistance. The unique porting pattern and spoke aesthetic combine for a highly ergonomic reel that will standup to even the strongest fish runs. Available August 2016, the 6200 reel family starts at $439 and tops out at $499.

Sage X Casting for Recovery = GRACE

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 1/8 women will be affected by this terrible disease, but with amazing charities and foundations out there, support has never been so strong to fight. Casting for Recovery takes the extra step and incorporates fly fishing into that healing process. Sage, among other companies, has been paired with CFR for quite some time now, and its contributions from these companies and the fly fishers that support them that help keep CFR going. Sage's GRACE outfit is a highlight of this month due to it being Breast Cancer Awareness month, but every month, $50 from every purchase of their GRACE outfit goes to CFR and helping to find a cure as well as bringing another woman battling the devastating disease to a sport that can help soothe and heal.

IFTD/iCAST Live Feed and Coverage - Day 3 + 'Best of Show' Winners

The 3rd and final day begins now!

As many of you know, iCAST and IFTD (International Fly Tackle Dealer) start today down in Orlando, FL and run until Friday. The two largest shows combined two years ago in Vegas to make the mother of all fishing shows. Unfortunately, my employer wouldn't allow me to take vacation to go and therefore my ticket is now a voucher...to fly another day.

Since I cannot be there, I am going to be blogging and live feeding photos of gear and happenings here, through a live feed of our Instagram and also on our Facebook and Twitter over the course of the next three days. I will be in constant contact with numerous friends that are attending or even in the show from our friends at Allen Fly Fishing (booth #) to my Dizm Eyewear teammate Eric Estrada at his Estrada Art booth (booth #200) to our great friend Rob Snowhite aka The Fly Fishing Consultant.

And here's a little video with the overall winner of the 'Best of Show' Awards from yesterday!!!!
