2013's Behind Us, Bring on 2014!

Well, its here. There's no avoiding it, not that I want to, but for most, 2013 was a great year and others are thankful its behind us. Looking forward, personally, I'm super stoked for 2014. I recently took a new job, which will be crazy at first but should give me more freedom to be with family and financially make the trips I've dreamed of, finally materialize.

It's day one of 2014 and there is already a lot to look forward to this year. From our 3rd Annual Carp Week (which will begin in roughly 225 days) to our hosted trip to Beaver Island with the gents at Indigo Guide Service (there are still two more spots), and more. A full calendar of whats in the books for 2014 (so far) is below...

2013 was a great year for us personally, from Luis catching more fish than ever on the fly in places like Florida, Puerto Rico, Belize, Beaver Island, and more to me knocking 5 species off my Fly Fishing Bucket List, to getting my first Steelhead on the fly, signing on with Dizm Eyewear, and even winning the 1st Annual CCA Maryland Red/Trout Tournament's fly division. As for us as a crew, it was even better, having a blast with some great new reviews, adding brand new equipment to our arsenal, and finishing off 2013 with a record-breaking month in December with over 20,000 recorded unique views on the blog alone (does not count our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts) in just 31 days!

We have quite a few things up our sleeves for this year, including the launch of a new company and possible move over to that new site. More details on that will be rolling out over the next few weeks.

We are always looking forward to whats ahead and whatever we are blessed with. For those of you who have some great fishing spots or we've had the privilege of speaking to/fishing with in the past, please don't be a stranger, that goes for those of you who we haven't had the privilege of fishing with yet. We are always down to try and squeeze new trips into our schedule, if you don't ask, we can't make it happen! For 2014, we're looking forward to spending more time with you guys and getting lines wet with the ones who make this blog happen, you! You catch a fish and want to get a photo of it. The fish stays nice and calm as you tilt it just right toward the sun, holding it out toward the camera so it looks a little bigger (yes, we all do that too). You're already writing the Facebook post about it in your head. Then it happens. In that delay between the shutter button being depressed and the camera taking the picture, the fish remembers a previous engagement and suddenly bolts. Maybe it drops in your lap, or your boat, but mostly it drops right back in the water you just worked so hard to remove it from. "Did you get it??" you ask the person with the camera. But you already know the answer.

Sometimes it's a ghostly blur in the corner of the frame. Sometimes it's totally gone and you're standing there like an idiot, your hands holding what looks like an imaginary fish and your face not yet registering what has happened. And sometimes the camera captures the "OOHHH NOOOO" coming out of your mouth as your hands desperately reach for what is already long gone.

Some of you may have been following us for awhile and seen the promotions we've been doing for this year's Carp Week. Last year was a huge hit, thanks to you, so this year we thought we'd not only bring Carp Week back, but make it twice as big. This week has a lot of greatness packed into it, thanks to our awesome contributors and friends. Just to give you a breakdown of how the week will pan out, we wanted to give you a play-by-play as to what we have in store.

Everyday at 7am, like we've always done, 3-4 posts will go live. One is guaranteed to be a sick carp-related fishing video (Daily Reel).
