Atlantic Salmon Caught in the Bronx

One of the best things about fishing is you just never know what’s going to end up at the end of your line on any given day. Imagine Pierre A. Champion surprise when he hauled an Atlantic Salmon out of the waters around City Island in the Bronx.  This fish, an endangered species is believed to be non-hatchery fish out of the Connecticut River. Unfortunately, the fish was deeply hooked and Mr. Champion  was unable to release this wonderful catch but on the upside samples of the fish have been submitted for further study. Could this be a very lost fish or perhaps a sign that conscious environmental efforts are paying off in NYC.
