The Topo Fleece Jacket. Growing up around mountain towns in the west the ubiquitous fleece made an impression on us. It was great for the elements then and it’s great now. Our version has the simple styling we remember with a trim fit. Great either as a layer or a jacket on it’s own.

Growing up we had “the” blanket. It was a fixture on the back of the sofa, it was for napping in the back of the Mercury and camping on Mt. Jefferson. It was that extra layer our dads swore “made all the difference” under our sleeping bags. Around the fire it was the shawl we sometimes fell asleep in.
We at Topo had fond memories and we wanted to revisit that blanket. We had a few criteria, had to be wool, had to be made in the USA, couldn’t be so fancy you didn’t want to use it, but nice enough that it felt like a luxury on the road. If we had to boil down the essence of who we are at Topo we’d likely end up with a concentrated elixir of the outdoors and family life. Our fondest and most influential memories seem to be derived from family camping trips, early mornings on the slopes or amazing days on the water. We wanted to capture a bit of that essence in our first installment of the Artist Series with our Topo Fishers Tee. We jogged our memories, sifted through a few family photos and settled on one of our favorites from a day on the water in Michigan many years back. A family trip during the salmon run proved to be a memorable event. Tagging along with dad and uncle seeing the beautiful fish caught on a fly, cemented us as fishermen for life. In order to breathe new life into an old memory, we enlisted the help of the talented Christine Mitchell. Christine’s wonderfully minimal style allows simple line drawings to speak with character and personality. It was the perfect fit for us to capture our concept and see it through talented eyes.
