I am not to proud to admit that I am a gear bag loving geek. For years I've shied away from the traditional fly fishing vest and typically wear or carry some sort of backpack, sling pack, boat bag or other style gear bag. Using so many different gear bags has helped narrow down what is most important in a perfect pack or bag. A few of these include space to carry a decent amount of gear, room for my DSLR camera, comfort, and durability and I've found that the Orvis Safe Passage Guide Sling hits all those high points along with a few more.
I first put hands on the Guide Sling this past summer at IFTD and was immediately impressed. The Guide Sling was well designed with lots of usable space and with a price point of $139 I figured it would be a sure winner.
Fast forward a couple months and I was able to get a media sample which went to Montana with me and has since accompanied me on a few local trips as well. I continue to be impressed with the Guide Sling as it is more than large enough to carry fly fishing and camera gear for a day on the water, rides comfortably across my back, and is easy to access by sliding it to the front to change out flies or snap a photo. All in all a great gear bag.
